The department was established in 1995 With a B.Sc in computer science. The department was upgraded to a Post-Graduate Department in 1998. The B.C.A course was started in 1999 and M.Sc information technology was started in 2001. The Department involves the U.G. and P.G. students in the Industry-Interaction Programmes to develop their practical knowledge and skill in application of computer. There are many distinguished and leading software engineers in India and abroad, who are old students of the department. Almost every year our students obtain university ranks both in U.G and P.G level.
We are strengthen with 15 faculties, 600 students and 100 computers with the following facilities,
- Excellent hands-on experience on the most updated Pentium Machines
- uptodate software like c,c++,java,oracle,visual studio,.net etc.,
- separate microprocessor and digital laboratory
- networking facility
- fully airconditioned
- internet accessing facility with direct link
B.Sc Computer Science
This is an integrated course of 3 years duration. After completion of the course a candidate can enroll for a post education degree of 2 years duration leading to a Master of Science in computer Science or Master of Science in information technology or a 3 years degree of M.C.A.
Pool Campus drive was conducted on 20-6-2009 by members of Tata Consultancy Service.
Our students obtained 4th prize in the Inter-College Quiz Competition conducted by LIC of India, Chennai-600 002 on 5-9-2009.
Our staff attended the Training Programme J2EE and best practices in Software Development-Deputing the faculty members was organized by the University of Madras on 19-11-2009 and 20-11-2009.
Our student participated in the 21st ALL INDIA ESSAY COMPETITION held Mumbai from October 22nd to 30th which was organized by (BARC) Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and obtained 4th place.
Our students participated in the “IT DOT NET-2009” programme conducted by SDNB Vaishnava College ,Chrompet on 19-12-2009 and won 1st prize for Web Designing Category and in Brain Squeezer’s Competition.
Our student won the 2nd prize and Young Scientist Award at the Science Exhibition conducted by Dr.A.L.Mudaliar centre for Basic Sciences,University of Madras on 22-12-2009.
Campus Interview was conducted by ALLSEC Technologies ,on 3-2-2010 UG & PG students of all disciplines had participated and 24 students were selected for Domestic Cadre and 8 students were selected for International Cadre.
Placement Drive -2010(off campus) was conducted by “ Nittany Institute of BPO Management” on 27-2-2010.This drive was attended by both students of our College and other Colleges.
“Maze IT-2010 “ was conducted by the Department of Computer Science and Application on 6-3-2010.It was presided over by Mr.M.Sabapathy,Technical Lead in TCS.He delivered a lecture on “Microsoft Technology SharePoint 2007”.
