The department was established in 1995 With a B.Sc in Bio-chemistry. The department was upgraded to a Post-Graduate Department in 1999.
We have spacious, well equipped two laboratories (UG,PG)to train the students as per the University of Madras Syllabus.
Sufficient equipments and Chemicals are available to fulfill the students project scheme.

Life Science Department organized a guest lecture presented by ‘Dr.P.KALAISELVI,Asst.Professor,Dept. of Medical Biochemistry,IBMS,University of Madras.She rendered a lecture on ‘Turning back the clock Green Tea Polyphenol’ on 9.2.2010.
